Sharing/Mirroring to TV and/or SMART Panel

For Zoom Meetings & General Sharing

Zoom meetings require an additional device. In the Classrooms we are doing this by utilizing an AppleTV. It can also be done with a device called Chromecast as well as a Roku device.

  • While using a Macintosh computer and/or iPhone, an Apple TV, using AirPlay is the best method.

  • Chromecast: Launch the meeting, open the Chrome browser in another window, select Cast from the menu on the top right.

  • You can also cast a Zoom meeting from a computer or Android smartphone using a Roku (iOS is not supported).

You can mirror your computer or phone via AirPlay and Apple TV. Make sure your computer or phone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the Apple TV you plan to mirror to and that you choose the AppleTV that is named appropriately for your meeting room. Usually the AppleTV’s within the district are set to the ‘USD444 Staff’ network

To AirPlay from your Mac

  • Select the AirPlay icon at the top of your Mac’s menu bar

  • Select Apple TV (or other AirPlay-compatible display) from the dropdown menu.

  • Your Zoom meeting should now display on the TV.

To AirPlay from your iOS device

  • Open the Control Center and tap Screen Mirroring.

  • Then tap the Apple TV or other AirPlay-compatible display.

  • Your Zoom meeting will now be mirrored on that TV.

For General Sharing (No AppleTV)

Our teachers utilize this feature in the classroom less frequently as many use the AppleTV. However, students connect to the classroom TV with their Chromebooks via this method.

You can use your Chrome browser to Cast what's on your computer screen to the TV.

  • Tap the Cast button in any compatible app.

  • Mirror your laptop screen to your VIZIO TV with the Chrome browser.

  • Surf the web and/or watch your media on the big screen.

  • Not compatible with Zoom
