Smart Board/Panel | HDMI Connection - Adjusting Screen Resolution

By default your computer will attempt to utilize what it thinks the best option for displaying on the Smart Panel would be. Unfortunately, the computer will opt to display what would appear best for those viewing the panel over how it appears on your MacBook, and this can lead to the computer screen being very difficult to read from.

We do likely have some options though. Let’s follow the next few steps and see if we can get your computer screen to show up a bit bigger :-)

Note - Due to differences in Operating Systems the following images might vary slightly from those on your computer, but they should represent the situation enough to get us where we need to be.

  1. While you are connected to your Smart Panel, open System Preferences by clicking on the Apple at the top left corner of your screen and choosing ‘System Preferences

  1. Open ‘Displays

If you can find your Display icon go ahead and click it, if you are not seeing it, you may want to use the search feature at the top right of the System Preferences window as shown below in image 2 of 2.

  1. Once you have opened your Display panel, you want to find where ‘Resolution:’ can be changed. If your resolution is set as ‘Default for Display’ let’s try changing it by selecting the ‘Scaled’ radio button. A menu of different resolutions should appear that you can choose from. ‘1080p’ is a common resolution for most people who work on MacBooks, so lets try selecting that.

Once you have made your changes you may or may not need to click ‘Apply.’ This is totally dependent on the Operating System you are using. If you do not see ‘Apply’ at the bottom right corner of the window, go ahead and close out of System Preferences, and begin using your computer. Hopefully now your computer screen that you are trying to work on is not teenie-tiny. :-)
