Can't Connect to Wi-Fi - Spinning

Option 1:

Disable preferred networks.

Having a preferred network can cause conflicts when you try to establish a new connection. In the Wi-Fi settings, select the right-arrow next to Known networks to manage your preferred networks.

Option 2: (Click link for additional help)

Perform a hard reset.

Press and hold the Refresh key + Power simultaneously, then release Refresh when your Chromebook boots.

⚠️ A hard reset may delete any locally stored files you have downloaded, so save anything you want to keep to your Google Drive.

If you are able to connect to the ‘USD444 Staff’ you may be able to try Option 3 and Option 4. Both options require some form of internet connection. So, if no internet connection exists in any capacity just skip to Option 5. Unfortunately, it is the least likely of the 5 solutions to fix a Spinning Internet Connection.

Option 3:

Update the chromebook.

If possible, update your Chromebook to make sure you're running the current version of Chrome OS.

  1. Click the bottom right corner of the Chrome OS desktop.

  2. Select the Settings icon.

  3. Click About Chrome.

  4. Click Check for updates.

  5. To apply the update, click the arrow icon and select Restart to Update.

Option 4:

Run Chrome Connectivity Diagnostics

Chrome Connectivity Diagnostics is a Google Chrome add-on (extension available to district) made for troubleshooting network connections on Chromebooks. It can detect any Wi-Fi problems and suggest remedies.

Option 5:

Resetting the Chrome Browser

Sometimes a user might set up a proxy setting in their browser. Whether on accident or due to an extension they are using. This can sometimes cause issues with network connection. Resetting the Chrome browser to its default may fix the problem.

  1. Go to Chrome Preferences

  1. At the top in the middle type in the search 'reset settings'

  1. Click the button to 'Restore settings to their original defaults'
